We’re a proudly traditional, drinks-only pub — keeping alive everything that makes a proper country pub special. From the crackle of the open fire to the friendly chat at the bar, this is a place where time slows down and everyone feels at home.

We believe in well-kept ales, honest hospitality, and creating a warm, welcoming space where stories are shared and friendships are made. Whether you’re calling in after a long walk across the moors, meeting friends for a pint, or settling in for a quiet evening by the fire, you’ll always find a seat, a smile, and a great drink waiting.

Our Story

Long before central heating and televisions, the village pub was where life happened — and ours has been part of that story for many years.

Built as a gathering place for local farmers, workers and families, the pub has always offered warmth, conversation and a well-poured pint. The open fire has warmed generations through Northumberland winters, while the bar has heard everything from harvest tales to wedding celebrations.

Though times have changed, the spirit of the pub hasn’t.

Today, we remain true to our roots: a traditional country pub focused on great drinks, friendly faces, and the simple pleasure of good company in a cosy setting. No frills. No fuss. Just a proper pub, the way it should be.

Come and join us from 7 til 9 for an entertaining and eclectic mix of our local musicians. Bring a guitar, sing along to the tunes you know, or just heckle from the bar.

Starting at 7, get here early to bag a table and a few quiz mates for your team. Hosted by our very own award winning James Oates, what would a Saturday night be without a few brain teasers and a battle to the bottom for our infamous booby prize.

August - Fundraiser for the Great North Air Ambulance and Macmillan Cancer Support

Air Ambulance Day

Ever since Hayley was thrown from her horse in 2016, we’ve hosted an annual family fun day in August as a fundraiser for the Great North Air Ambulance. To date The Wallace Arms has raised over £30,000 and with a mix of live music, falconry and exotic animals, pony rides and food stalls it’s not surprising it’s one of our busiest days of the year!

Where to Find Us

By road you can find us by following the Alston, Halton Lea Gate and Coanwood exit from the A69 on the Haltwhistle bypass and turning right at Featherstone Village Hall.

Walkers most often come across us via the South Tyne Trail which follows the line of the old Haltwhistle to Alston line that was closed in 1974 and has been a popular walking route ever since (take a left on this trail as you leave the pub to experience the stunning Lambley Viaduct).

There is a bus. It runs 3 times a day and not when the pub is open. Private helicopters are not permitted.
